Trash-filled and unsanitary atmosphere in Naples, Italy

Public park where we stopped by to have lunch last Saturday, it was a beautiful day and sunny but…

Local store, local people, the true Napoli!

Oh, the romance of Italy and the prettiness of the landscape I saw back in 2001 is still in the air but sadly, I have to say it is not in Naples…

Piles of garbage, just in front of a restaurant, not very good for the business

We arrived here, in Naples, on May 07, 2013.  The first thing I noticed of course were the piles of garbage all over the places, the city containers over floated with debris, etc..

This is a pedestrian street, reserved for early morning runners, local and tourist people wanted to see the sea, to the left. Hopefully today, the garbage truck will pick this pile up and hide it from the view!

To each city its own problem, I have seen it all but again, everything I see is relatively attached to my personal tolerance to the human race!

They are trying very hard to accommodate but the problem is that those containers are all full… , always…

Sadly, Naples is no longer a pretty and romantic part of Italy.  Schools are filled up to the windows with trash and health implications are becoming an even greater issue.

… lets not mention the smell that comes with the streets ok?

Naples is no longer what it once was, and it could be awhile till it gets back to a destination point for tourists who come from all over to enjoy the world-famous pizza.

Gorgeous and very typical local pizza here in Napoli… but eat it inside the resto, not on a terrace…

Naples, a city that was once known for their mouth-watering and delectable pizza, is now known for their trash-filled and unsanitary atmosphere.

Underground metro is very popular, not much trash here might be one of the reason!

Each weekend, we go by public transportation here and there, inside the walls of this historic city, DSC03988like here, we walked to the Napoli Sotterranea Acquedotto, to visit the underground Greco-Romano archeologyco site.  It was a wonderful visit, a time traveling back, trying very hard to look for history and passion but it takes a wiliness to do so DSC04031as every step we take has to be calculated for not stepping into something on the ground.

This photo dated from 1943, Napoli people having to live in the streets because they had lost everything in the bombardment their beloved city.DSC04002
